Gemstone Appreciation

"Colours of the Universe" exhibition is a highlight of the museum's annual "Sun Delight" programme, currently showcasing 120 pieces of jade and stone carvings from the Song to Qing dynasties. Visitors can admire works crafted from various colour stones such as agate, white jade, green jade, yellow jade, lapis lazuli, soapstone, turquoise, coral, natural rock-crystal, amethyst, malachite and glass, etc.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the museum is honoured to host Dr. Dominic Mok, Founder and Principal of Asian Gemmological Institute & Laboratory (AGIL), for a "Gemstone Appreciation" lecture on May 24 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Dr. Mok will explore the natural colours and unique properties of these gemstones, offering visitors multidimensional perspectives to deepen their understanding of the exhibits.

Dr. Dominic Mok is the Founder and Principal of the Asian Gemmological Institute & Laboratory (AGIL), the Founding President of the Asia Pacific Gemmologist Society (APGS) and serves as the Founding Principal Academic Advisor for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Gemmology and Jewellery Studies at Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

The lecture will be conducted in Cantonese, and admission is free.
