Lectures on Chinese Culture

To align with the Hong Kong Government’s latest measures to achieve social distancing due to the coronavirus outbreak, the lectures “Birthdays of Divinities in Ancient China” and “Festivals in Ancient China” scheduled for 18 July (Saturday) and 1 August (Saturday) respectively will be postponed again until further notice. Thank you for your attention.

Sun Museum is hosting free lectures on Chinese culture. Reservation is required and limited places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All lectures are conducted in Cantonese.

Birthdays of Divinities in Ancient China

(postponed until further notice)

The mixture of Buddhist and Daoist beliefs is common in Chinese temples. The lecture explains how ancient Chinese developed their celebration of the birthdays of many divinities from both religions.

Festivals in Ancient China

(postponed until further notice)

The lecture introduces some interesting aspects of how ancient Chinese celebrated the following festivals: Spring Festival, Ching Ming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Chung Yeung Festival.
