Drawings of 36 Deities
29/10/2021 - 8/1/2022
Co-presented by Sun Museum and i-dArt, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals
The Temple and Ritualistic Services and Rehabilitation Services units under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals join hands for the first time in an interdisciplinary project: artists from i-dArt, a unit established to promote the artistic creation of people with different abilities, were invited to create deity portraits inspired by the deities worshipped in Tung Wah’s temples. These artists have diverse background and creative experiences; some are award-winning veterans, while some are promising new talents. They have reinvented the image of Chinese deities by employing different styles and techniques, for example, the use of rhythmic marker strokes, expressive watercolours, delicate coloured pencils, poster colour, digital drawing, etc.
Apart from showing a selection of these special portraits, this exhibition also aims to encourage the public to appreciate temple culture through art as well as promote the concepts of harmony and inclusion.
